I had a really nice date last night with a really awesome person who is just…awesome.

It’s very refreshing when I don’t have to explain terms about gender, sex, privilege, etc.

But I think I may have come off a little too strong. ‘cause I don’t do things slowly well…

Welp.

I was going to share what I wrote tonight.

-applauds- I will read your book if you publish it :D I’m really picky with fiction, but I don’t see how I couldn’t like your book (fantasy? gender-norms shattered? I’m game!)

Oh yay, thank you~ I do hope to publish it someday…in the future…but I’m working on lots of short stories and other goodies to try to start publishing, and all of them will have a consistent thread of some sort of gender or sexuality or other fuckery because that’s how I roll.

^o^ I would loveee to read anything you publish, if for nothing else but to support you.

I love this “other fuckery” and am basically hoping to bring it to the world of theatre where—any play that doesn’t derive its conflict DIRECTLY FROM gender roles and/or sexuality (the latter being, say, someone who is gay coming out in an anti-gay society perhaps)—the roles will be caste gender-blind. ‘cause why the fuck not have a female Hamlet and an agender Ophelia? No reason at all, that’s what! >:P

But then I remembered that I’d pretty much just been writing about the most serious crimes and violent acts in one of my fantasy cultures and was like, ‘Oh. Oh. That really needs to be contained in the story to not come off as creepy.’

Though, if it matters to anyone, the story does have a high population of gender-neutral/swapping creatures, trans characters, a range of sexualities (though I wouldn’t say sexuality identities, as labeling a sexuality is generally considered strange in the main culture the book focuses on), as well as a range of family and romantic relationships and such. F’ex, most of the parents of one species tend to raise their children on their own without acknowledging the father or raise children in families with three or four parents and little concern for parentage. I’m also trying to make it a close to gender equal society, but that’s..working and not working, as I’m sure you can imagine.

Another race has a mostly asexual population, as well, because I…well, I’m tinkering with shit, fantasy is fun, okay?

Ooh, you fuck with genders, sexualities, kinship, relationship, and families too huh? I do as well and I LOVE knowing other writers are too.

I do this too! I love fucking with these things. It makes the writing process (especially creating characters) so much more interesting.
